Some notes on the required reading of a novel
A The book-report should contain:
1.) Information about the author - biography (very short)
- author and his time (very short)
- bibliography
- main topics/themes of his works
- position/role of your choice in his works
2.) Theme of the book
3.) Short summary of the contents including short analysis of main characters
(possibly omitting climax/end/pointe)
4.) Observations on language/style
5.) Critical evaluation of the book
 possible approaches: - Did it satisfy your expectations? Were you disappointed? Why?
- Relationship content - language - theme - presentation
- Do you think the author succeeded in the conveyance of his
"message"? Does he have any?
B Length of paper
3 - 4 typewritten pages (if necessary, more). The papers will be corrected and returned to you in time to rewrite them. You may of course hand them in in handwriting - the final copy must be typewritten!
C The paper will be part of your participation credits!
D Where to find the information necessary
a) Kindler’s Literaturlexikon
b) History of Literature
c) Libraries
d) Friends
e) Teachers (?)
Wichtig für mich:
-Interessant,aber nicht zu kompliziert
-nicht zu lang(herr der Ringe fällt weg!
